Japan's Digital Nomad status is a Designated Activities status for international remote work during a stay in Japan.
It covers work based on a contract with an overseas organization, or paid services or sales to clients located outside Japan using information and communication technology.
The period of stay is six months and extension is not granted. Eligible country, income, and private medical insurance requirements must be checked carefully.

Main Requirements
Nationality or citizenship of an eligible country or region covered by visa exemption arrangements and Japan's tax conventions
International remote work for an overseas employer or overseas clients during the stay in Japan
Annual income of at least 10 million yen at the time of application
Private medical travel insurance covering death, injury, and illness during the stay
No employment contract or work for a Japanese public or private organization under this status
